I followed this to fix the issue thanks to @subhojit777

1. I had a patch in composer.json which I removed and ran composer install
2. Uninstalled the canvas_api module via drush followed by drush cr
3. Updated the module using composer
4. Enabled the module and executed drush cr

It started working.
